The Tres Reyes Celebration is a long standing tradition at Centro Hispano of Dane County. This annual event usually brings 400+ children and their families to Centro for a community celebration that includes face painting, traditional snacks and hot chocolate, photos with the Three Kings and more. Each child leaves with a free gift or toy! .

In the Three Kings 2023 edition we were able to add an event with Bikes and Books giveaway as we celebrated the children of the community and honored this tradition widely celebrated in Latin America.
By the numbers:

2021 Tres Reyes:   800 children received a free toy in Madison
2022 Tres Reyes:  700 Children received a free toy in Madison + 70 Bikes were given away
2023 Tres Reyes:  350 Children received 2 toys in Madison (700 toys total)

Despite the endless challenges that human beings face, it is critical to celebrate with great joy whenever happy moments come. Three Kings Day is one of the special days many Latin American Families celebrate. It remains a significant cultural identity of Latin Americans' heritage and traditions. Through this celebration, Centro honors the roots of the community while keeping traditions alive and celebrating the young ones.

At Centro, we acknowledge our organizational role of enhancing cohesion, joy, and love among families. It remains our goal to make families happy by distributing gifts. This celebration unifies generations, fosters bonds within families, and brings back memories of children and parents.

The number of kids we serve increases yearly, becoming an authentic tradition in Dane County. We are grateful that Tres Reyes has become an inclusive cultural celebration for Latinos and non-Latinos.

We invite volunteers, agency partners, and staff to participate by helping with setup or managing the logistics before, during, and after the celebrations. Other community activities of the Tres Reyes include preparing hot chocolate, cleaning, labeling the gifts, delivering the toys, and organizing kids' activities.

We look forward to receiving and rejoicing with a great multitude at Centro. It will be our incredible joy to witness your contributions, presence, and participation on this important day.

Past Tres Reyes Celebrations

2022 Tres Reyes Celebration community!

With over 700 toys and 70 bikes, we were able to bring joy to kids on Friday January 7th.

In early 2022 this was one of the first major walk-through event.

2021 Tres Reyes Celebration: A great day for our community!

Thanks to the support of our sponsors, agency partners, volunteers, supporters, and staff, the massive task of home delivery to 808 children (compared to approximately 400 children served in 2020) was accomplished.

This event showed that when heart and commitment are aligned great things can be accomplished.  Community means unity and solidarity even in a time full of uncertainty.
